Who are Bani Isra'eel? |
There were two sons of Maulaana Ibrahim Khalilullaah SA – Maulaana Isma'il Zabihullaah SA from Maulaatona Haajrah SA; and Maulaana Ishaaq SA from Maulaatona Saarrah SA. Maulaana Isma'il SA along with her mother Maulaatona Haajrah SA stayed back in the Arabian Peninsula (now Makkah) on the command of Maulaana Ibrahim SA. Maulaana Ishaaq SA along with her mother Maulaatona Saarrah SA stayed and settled in Palestine. Maulaana Ibrahim SA used to travel between these two regions to meet his sons. The progeny of Maulaana Isma'il SA continued in the form of Mustaqarr A'immat SA while the progeny of Maulaana Ishaaq SA continued in the form of Mustawda' Ambiyaa SA. These two branches met again after centuries – in Makkah – before the birth of Rasoolullaah SAWS.
Maulaana Ya'qoob SA is the son of Maulaana Ishaaq SA in Palestine. He is also known as “Isra'eelullaah”. He had 12 sons. Descendants of all 12 sons are called Banu Isra'eel – Children of Isra'eel – Children of Ya'qoob SA. Name of one of the sons was Yahuda (Judah) from which Banu Isra'eel took their name and called themselves as Yahoodi (Jews). Maulaana Yusuf SA was also one among the 12 sons. Judaism is also derived from Judah. Brothers of Maulaana Yusuf SA threw him into the well deceptively as mentioned in the Qur'an. Maulaana Yusuf SA was saved by Allaah Ta’aala and was destined to Egypt. During the severe famine in Palestine, his brothers who threw him into the well came to Egypt along with Maulaana Ya'qoob SA. They lived there happily. Maulaana Ya'qoob SA and Maulaana Yusuf SA died in Egypt. Later on, the Bani Isra'eel were enslaved in Egypt. Maulaana Musaa SA was born among the enslaved and then liberated them out of Egypt. The whole of the Palestine during the time of Maulaana Ya'qoob SA was divided into 12 regions – each belonging to his sons. |

Story - 1: O Children of Aadam! Seek Refuge of the Most Merciful Allaah Ta'aala from the wicked Shaitaan. |
There was a pious man in Bani-Israel who stayed alone in a desolate place away from the human settlements. He Worshipped with Devotion and Dedication. Shaitaan was moved by his Dedication and decided to test his Worship so he appeared to him as a beautiful woman. He knocked the door of the Worshipper and requested him to let her spend a night in his house as it was dark and dangerous to stay out alone. Shaitaan who appeared as a woman told him that, “She is an Arab woman and has nowhere to go in this darkness and she feared wild animals who might attack her”! The Worshipper replied humbly that, he cannot let the woman spend night in his house. He added to arrange food or any other thing for her but not the stay. The Woman pleaded that, she is alone and if at all any wild animal attack and kill her then you would bear the responsibility of my killing on the Day of Judgement. Listening to these words the Worshipper turned cold and speechless. Without arguing further the Worshipper allowed the Woman to spend a night.
The Shaitaan clad in the attire of Woman now began to show his colours. The Woman told to the pious man to light the Fire as it was too cold. The Worshipper did whatever the Woman demanded. She stood in front of the Worshipper and revealed her beauty under the tight dress. Her beauty clouded the senses of the Worshipper. She muttered to him that, she is also a very pious and modest woman and she is unmarried and wants to worship with him for the whole night. She further stated, “I want to marry you and want to be your wife”. The Worshipper was left speechless and had sexual intercourse with that woman.
When they were satisfied, the Woman turned into old ugly man - the real face of Shaitaan who shouted, “O Man! You claimed to be the most pious man and the greatest Worshipper? You can't protect yourself from my ill intentions. You are no better than Aadam and your Hut is not a Paradise. If I can deceive Aadam in the Paradise, you are nothing for me". The Worshipper heard a voice from the sky, “O man! You have sinned; not ever repent but repeat all your Prayers afresh”. You have lost all your good deeds because of your Sin.
Quranic Verse: "Who whispers in the hearts of people; whether he be from the jinn or humans" (114:5&6)
Moral: O Sons of Aadam – Be steadfast in conforming to the obligations of the Shari'at in any circumstances. You will be tested in many ways. Shaitaan can whisper or deceive you in any way - in a form of thought or a person and will encourage you to go against the Shari'at. Indeed, Worldly things are deceptive in every way. |

Story - 2: O Servants of Allaah! Embrace Religiousness-piety and Leave Worldly Men |
There was a pious old man in Bani Israel whose purpose of Life was only Remembrance of Allaah. He fasted during the day and spent nights in Worshipping, doing Du'aas. He broke his fasts on a simple food like barley beans. He considered his routine as an expression of Devotion and Submission to Allaah. He was least interested in the Worldly affairs. But his way of Worship and Abstinence made him famous as a “Unique and Devoted Worshipper” of his time. As the news spread in and around his locality, the King showed interest in meeting him. The King was deeply moved by his Devotion. He planned to visit the man.
The King’s intention was to compel and beseech the old man to pray for him to Allaah to ease his death and grant him Paradise in the Hereafter. The King added, “Pious and religious men like him are rarely found whose prayers are heard by the Almighty Allaah Ta'aala”. Also, “Meeting him is the only way to get his wish answered”.
When the pious man came to know about the King’s visit he started extraordinary preparations for the visit. He arranged for variety of delicious food items for the King. He bought fresh pomegranates for the King. He decorated his house. When the King arrived at his place to meet him he was surprised seeing all extravagant decoration and food items arranged for him. The pious man offered and served his best to the King. Instead of creating a good image of the pious man on the King’s mind, his hospitality led the King to doubt about the Devotion of the man. He thought how could a God-Fearing man lead such a luxurious life eating delicious food? He was shocked and left his house in disappointment and anger.
The pious man distributed the unattended food among the poor and began his previous daily routine without any sign of repentance or sorrow. After few days, a man asked about his typical behaviour with the King. The pious man satisfactorily replied, “The King has higher expectations from me because of my devotion and faith”. He would have frequently visited me because of it. He would have called me to the Palace. He would have forced me to obey his commands. All these things would have definitely taken me away from my Worship, Devotion and Abstinence. I didn’t liked to befriend him and accompany him in the prayers. Unknowingly I would have been dragged into Worldly affairs. How could I sacrifice my Worship for sake of such things? He is a King; a Ruler; and has his own way to reach goals. Purity and Conviction cannot be attained in this way. I always submit to Allaah by prostrating as His humble Servant. My way and his way of submission to Allaah are totally different.
Saiyedna Badruddin Hasan bin S Wali RA – 31st Da’i e Mutlaq who spent 17 years in the underground cistern-hidden chamber called Tanka in Ahmedabad led a simple, pious and devoted life. He was forced to lead a veiled and secretive life because of the enemies. Yet even in the challenging odds of his period the governors and political figures used to visit him in secrecy. They knew about the depth of his knowledge, truthfulness and perseverance. They conveyed the message of Saiyedna to the authorities in Delhi about the persecution and torture through which he was able to avenge the Shahaadat of Saiyedna ‘Ali Shaheed Kareem RA. The enemy was assassinated and hanged at Teen Darwaza in Ahmedabad. Saiyedna Badruddin saheb RA spent 43 yrs of his life serving in the Cause of Allaah and Truth.
Quranic Verse: "Those who took their religion as an amusement and play and the life of the world deluded them, So today, We forget them as they forgot the meeting of their day of account. This and what they used to reject Our Verses." (7:51)
Moral: Life of the World – its Luxuries, Comfort, Opulence and Riches is a deception. Religiousness is a Truth and will earn you an Eternal Reward. You will be tested in this World in various ways and will be tempted to leave the path of Religion. Remain steadfast to the Right path of Religion and ignore the Worldly deceptions. |

Story - 3: Sometime Sins become a cause of Goodness and sometime Disease becomes the cause of Health. |
There was a Worshipper in Bani Israel. He considered Remembrance of Allaah as a real life. He used to be in the company of Worshippers only. He used to worship in a small hut on the top of the hill outside the village. One day he had such a need that he had to go to the village. While returning to his hut it was already dark. He was tired so he sat down on one of the crossroads in the village.
As soon as he felt better and energetic, he started heading towards the hut. On the way, he saw a woman who was approaching him. Worshipper had evil whispers in his mind and he fixed his gaze on the woman. Lust overpowered his intellect. But he said to himself that, it seems she is not a woman but Shaitaan is dragging me towards its evil and making me neglectful to my Worship. Thinking this, Worshipper turned away from the woman and swiftly walked towards his hut. He completely closed the hut with stones and began to worship while standing. He repented a lot and started crying. He was so hungry that he was unable to stand. So he sat down and continued worshipping. After a few hours, he didn’t even have the strength to worship while sitting. So he lied down and continued worshipping.
Days and nights passed but he did not give up worshiping. In the same situation he kept saying to himself silently, “O Worshipper! Because your body had strength of food you were drawn towards the woman; if you did not had strength in you, you would not have casted your gaze on the woman”. Worshipper passed away in the same condition uttering these words. When the villagers came to know about the death of Worshipper, they rushed to his hut. They gave him ritual bath and buried him near his hut. 70,000 angels came in his burial and performed Du’aa for his salvation.
Ka’bat ul Ahbaar says, “Sometime it happens that Sins themselves become Blessings for the Sinner. Just like when we learn to walk cautiously after we trample over an objects". A sinner repents to such an extent after committing a sin that he never commits it again.
Moral: O Sons of Aadam – Human Beings do commit sins in their lives. But true Repentance is not merely seeking forgiveness but to take an oath of not committing a sin again in the future. Intelligent person is the one who learns from the mistakes and wrongdoings and never commits again. So take our mistakes, wrongdoings, sins and shortcomings as a lesson of Life. If we are pure at our Heart, Allaah Ta’aala will forgive us. |
